SHfiguarts Kamen Rider Diend

Hand me this world’s treasure.

A review of the treasure sniper, Diend.

Kamen Rider Diend, or “the treasure-loving thief Rider” as Momotaros calls him, is from 2009’s series Kamen Rider Decade. The second Rider (excluding Kuuga), Diend follows the CMYK code like the other Decade Riders (Decade being Magenta, Diend being Cyan).

Unlike Decade, Diend henshins using the Diendriver instead of a henshinbelt. Furthermore, unlike Decade who KamenRides into other Riders, Diend uses his cards and Diendriver to summon them. Whether his summons are mindless energy clones or copies of the originals, that’s up to individual canon.

SHFiguarts Diend comes with only 1 Diendriver, which is molded in its open mode (Diend Complete Form, however, comes with a spare Diendriver in its closed mode). The Diendriver is very well-sculpted and painted, albeit lacking a card slotted inside it.

His belt has a well-applied Diend logo which is tampoed on. The belt actually doesn’t serve any purpose in the series, and the only function it has apparently is to mount the Ktouch onto to access Diend’s Complete Form, as seen in Chou Den-O: Episode Yellow.

In terms of accuracy, Diend’s very show-accurate. He shares quite a fair bit of parts with Decade just like in the show. His eyes, however, are not a clear plastic. Instead, it’s painted metallic blue, which works pretty fine anyway. The paint apps on him are very clean and well done. One flaw, however, is that his shoulder design restricts his arm movement; as a result, his arms can’t swing outwards much. Not too much of an issue though, seeing how Diend doesn’t swing his arms much anyway.

I do like how his trigger finger can actually fit into the trigger of the Diendriver. Sure looks much better that way.

<<FinalFormRide>> KIVA

This might hurt a bit.

Presenting… Kiva Arrow! (That’s the CandyToys version, not the SHF version by the way.)

Hmmm. That doesn’t look too comfortable…

Ore, Sanjou! / Boku ni Tsuraretemiru?

This picture references TWO movies. No prizes for the right answer.

<<FinalAttackRide>> DIEND

Yes, Diend does have a Rider Kick. It was shown in the final episode, when he was fighting the kaijins Apollo Geist resurrected.

Due to Diend being in DCD, he has a lot of interactivity with other SHFiguarts. Especially with the Den-O characters, since he’s in Episode Yellow.

Won’t you let me string you along?

*Yes, I got Urataros mainly for that rod of his. :D*

Urataros’ pretty much the same height as Diend. Which makes sense, since they share the same suit actor (Eitoku)

Let’s not forget that Diend’s one of the few characters who even has interactivity with HIMSELF.

Overall, Diend’s an excellent figure. However, he’s going for pretty high prices nowadays due to his popularity and rarity. Highly recommended if you see him going at a reasonable price.

Yeah, but Diend Complete’s red isn’t bright metallic like Diend’s.

odd that Decade’s kneepads are not painted, i noticed…

    • January 25, 2011 at 9:03 pm

Yeah, Diend’s kneepads are painted while Decade’s aren’t. Probably because Diend has more unpainted black I guess, while Decade generally has more paint apps.
