The child of the Sun! Kamen Rider Black! RX!

A review of SHfiguarts Kamen Rider Black RX.

Black RX, a sequel series to Kamen Rider Black, is memorable to many people for 2 reasons:

– It’s the sequel to the highly popular Kamen Rider Black,

-and it’s the first series to be remade/Americanised into Saban’s MASKED RIDER.

Despite the fact that Saban’s MASKED RIDER was extremely horrible, it did expose the American kids to the awesomeness of Kamen Rider. (Now now, let’s not get into how they got all the other Riders’ names messed up – Skyrider as AMAZON, X as V3, etc) This makes RX more recognizable to the Americans.

Furthermore, RX was the first time a single actor (Tetsuo Kurata) portrayed 2 Riders in KR history. Sure, that’s pretty common nowadays, but it was a new concept back then. Not to mention that RX had alternate forms: Biorider and Roborider, making him even more outstanding.

Now, back to the topic at hand. SHFiguarts RX is essentially a remold of the SHFiguarts Black body, which in itself is quite a basic SHFiguart body. The only differences are the wristwatch thingy, the new head, different torso, belt, and the additional revolcane. Apart from that, the arms and legs are basically the same. Which kinda makes sense anyway, since RX and Black are the same guy anyway… As such, RX has the same articulation as Black, apart from restricted head articulation due to his weird neck.

Accessories-wise, RX comes with the usual optional hands, and his lightsab-oops, Revolcane. The Revolcane’s cast in transparent plastic. Doesn’t really look like its glowing onscreen look, but then it’s good enough.

Overall, RX’s a good figure. Not exactly perfect, since the arms and legs are too slim for Jiro (RX/Black’s suit actor), but a good enough figure nonetheless. My only gripe’s that the chest is kinda glossy, and that the RX logo is just tampoed onto his chest.
